Challenge
TEPCO Energy Partner Inc. (TEPCO EP) needed to address the growing demand for premium power from data centers while expanding its portfolio of power quality products, solutions, and services.
Solution
ABB provided TEPCO EP with the PCS 120 Medium Voltage Uninterruptable Power Supply (PCS 120 MV UPS), which offered power failure and voltage sag protection functions, as well as high- efficiency power conditioning via reactive power control and the potential for grid support services. Parallel configurations of the 2.25MVA product can also increase capacity to multi MVA levels.
Outcome
The power conditioning functionality of the PCS120 MV UPS allowed TEPCO EP consumers to enjoy the high availability of premium power and supported the improvement of Japan's power quality.
